Professional Dialogue in Action: Legal Workshop with Harbour Masters

Today, ANK Law Office, as a local partner of MACN (Maritime Anti-Corruption Network), and supported by the Network, in collaboration with the Ukrainian Shipping Administration, held a practical legal training for Ukrainian harbour masters.

The event opened with a warm welcome from Kasper Nielsen, Lead – EMEA Region & Seafarer Engagement at MACN, who pleasantly surprised the attendees with an inspiring presentation about MACN’s mission and global initiatives.

Maritime law experts Artem Volkov and Kostiantyn Moriakov explored key legal aspects of the harbour master’s role, including:

1. Legal status, duties and powers of harbour masters
2. Vessel detentions under Articles 80–81, 91 of the Merchant Shipping Code
3. Enforcement of court rulings on ship arrest and release

The Q&A session turned into a dynamic discussion, marked by active engagement and thoughtful questions from participants.
